nursing school and work

Parents and close friends have been discouraging me to go to work. I have thought about quitting..but how should i tell my employers and colleagues who have been so patient to me that, i need to stop working for now..
So i just have to be responsible and brave enough to bear with the consequences now.
Give me the strength.
